Bangalore Move-In Cleaning Checklist: Before the Boxes Arrive

The easiest time to inspect and deep clean a new home is before furniture and boxes fill the rooms. Start with access, repairs and the cleaning scope, then work through cupboards, kitchen, bathrooms and floors before moving belongings into place.
Whether you are moving into a rented flat in Marathahalli or your own apartment in Whitefield, an empty room can make dirt easier to see and surfaces easier to reach. This checklist is designed to help you organise the work, not promise that every home needs the same package.
Before you book: separate cleaning from repairs
- Photograph existing damage and stains, especially in a rental property.
- Check taps, leaks, electrical issues and damaged fittings, and arrange qualified repair work separately.
- Confirm that water and electricity will be available for the cleaning visit.
- Tell the team if painting, renovation or carpentry is still in progress.
- Share the approximate floor area, bathrooms, balconies and remaining furniture or appliances.
- Ask the building manager about entry permissions, lift access and appointment restrictions.
The move-in and move-out cleaning service covers cleaning of vacant rooms, kitchen, bathrooms and other agreed areas. Light paint or cement marks can be assessed. Heavy construction debris removal, painting and repairs are outside that service. Do not assume a regular deep clean includes clearing a renovation site.
1. Cupboards and storage before unpacking
Keep cupboards empty until the agreed interior cleaning is complete. Check shelves, corners and accessible door tracks. Ask which interiors are included in your quote rather than relying on the name of a package alone. In the standard full-home plans, emptied cupboard and kitchen-cabinet interiors are included in Ultimate, not Premium.
Do not hide damage under shelf liners before documenting it. Let cleaned surfaces dry as advised before placing clothes, paper or other belongings inside. Cleaning can address dirt, but it cannot replace damaged wood or repair a swollen cabinet.
2. Kitchen surfaces and remaining appliances
- Inspect accessible cabinet interiors and exteriors, counters and sink areas.
- Discuss grease on the backsplash, hob surroundings and reachable surfaces.
- If a refrigerator remains, agree whether interior cleaning is needed. Ultimate includes inside-and-out refrigerator cleaning with items removed and trays and shelves washed.
- Separate appliance cleaning from chimney servicing, electrical work or repairs.
3. Bathrooms: inspect first, then treat deposits
Look at tiles, fittings, corners and areas around the sink and shower. Tell the team about old hard-water marks and damaged finishes. Stain treatment depends on the surface and condition. We do our best, but older or permanent marks may need more than one cleaning or different methods, and some will not fully disappear.
If a stain comes from a leak or damaged grout, cleaning is not the repair. Agree expectations during inspection. You can also discuss a focused bathroom deep clean if that is the main area needing attention.
4. Rooms, accessible windows and balconies
Ask for the agreed dusting and accessible window, grill and balcony work to be completed before the final floor clean. Outside glass will only be cleaned where safely reachable. Dust & Pest Solutions does not use rope access or unsafe exterior-window methods.
Keep moving boxes out of the cleaning path and explain any furniture that cannot be moved safely. A vacant flat is easier to access, but it still needs an agreed scope. High, delicate or damaged surfaces should be identified before work begins.
5. Check for pests before settling in
Report cockroach sightings, signs around cabinets or any concerns about bed bugs or termite damage. Do not assume cleaning treats an infestation. An inspection helps identify what needs attention. Cleaning and treatment should be sequenced so later washing does not disturb a fresh application.
Moving-day tip: Keep the cleaning visit, any pest treatment and furniture delivery as separate agreed steps. Ask about aftercare and drying before locking in the moving schedule. There is no single turnaround time suitable for every property.
What will a move-in deep clean cost?
Premium is approximately ₹6 per sq ft and Ultimate approximately ₹8 per sq ft as guide rates. The exact quote is provided after inspection, based on actual area, condition and agreed inclusions. An empty flat does not automatically need Ultimate. Explain what remains in the home and compare the pricing and plan details.
Move into a home with a clear cleaning plan
Tell us your move-in date, location and whether the flat is empty. We will assess the scope before quoting.
Frequently asked questions
Should I book before or after furniture delivery?
Before delivery usually gives better access. Confirm the sequence with the team, especially if renovation, upholstery drying or pest-treatment aftercare affects the schedule.
Does move-in cleaning include heavy construction waste?
No. Heavy debris removal, painting and repairs are excluded. Light paint or cement marks can be assessed during inspection.
Will you clean the outside of high-rise windows?
Only glass that is safely reachable. Rope access and unsafe exterior-window work are not provided.
Can the service guarantee the return of my rental deposit?
No. Cleaning scope and your landlord’s deposit decision are separate. Document existing damage and agree requirements with the landlord.
